NYC Fireman Halloween Costumes: Play The Role
Fireman Halloween costumes are really the only thing you need to consider if you're hoping to find the male alternative to those sexy costumes women are always wearing. Any man looks great in a fireman's outfit. Heroic, strong, proud, manly. You can weigh three hundred pounds, you can have a nose too big for your face, you can have a serious lisp, but women will swoon over any guy in a fireman's outfit.
Let's talk about real firemen for a moment, though. The truth is that the job is usually pretty boring. For every hour spent putting out a fire, you spend dozens of hours sitting around waiting for a fire to catch somewhere in the city. For every fire you put out, you respond to a dozen false alarms.
Real firemen perform a duty that is very important, and which usually consists of just sitting around waiting for something to happen. The payoff is that they get to wear the sexiest uniform in the world, but it's a heck of a price to pay.
Of course, you on the other hand only need wear the costume and you are good to go. The women at the party aren't going to care that you've never really rushed into a burning building, you look the part and that's close enough to make you the sexiest man at the party no matter how you really look underneath the outfit. But of course, you do have to get into the character! Here are some tips.
Grow Some Facial Hair
You are going to need a mustache. Most of us look goofy with a mustache, but it looks great on a fire fighter for some reason. The bushier the better. Now, your friends are going to be making some Hall and Oates jokes throughout October, but ignore them, because they'll be wishing it was their idea on the thirty first when you're stealing all the ladies at the party. You may also want to grow out a one day beard so that you can really get a nice scruffy, manly look going.
Develop a Brooklyn Accent
The only thing girls love more than firemen is New York City firemen. Watch any movie with Harvey Keitel in it and get some practice in so that you can pull it off on cue by the thirty first. And remember, you're after a tough guy New York accent. Brooklyn, the Bronx, not upper crust Manhattan! You could also watch Mean Streets and Taxi Driver over and over again so that you can get the feel for New York life and really pretend to be a part of it.
Soot Yourself Up!
You want to get some fake soot ready so you can look like you're fresh from a rescue operation. You can accomplish this by burning some cork and then smearing it lightly on your face. If you're feeling really ambitious, most fireman outfits don't come pre-dirtied, so you can take some cork and soot up the suit itself to really sell the part.
